Report an issue with this species
Araucaria araucana is a striking, pyramid-shaped evergreen conifer with stiff, spiny, overlapping leaves. Native to the mountainous regions of central and southern Chile and western Argentina, it is adapted to natural fires but is now endangered due to human activities. While it has an unusual ornamental appeal, its large mature size and spiny branches may limit its suitability for smaller urban landscapes.
