This is a hybrid leguminous tree known for its striking purplish-red, orchid-like flowers that bloom from early November to March. Its unique bi-lobed leaves resemble butterfly wings. As a sterile hybrid, it produces no fruit, reducing litter and making it a good choice for urban planting where it is also drought-tolerant once established.
