Itea virginica, also known as Virginia willow, is a small flowering shrub native to the southeastern United States, found in low-lying woods and wetland margins. It produces small flowers on pendulous racemes in late spring to early summer. Though preferring moist, rich soil, it can tolerate a wide range of soil types, but is known to form dense root suckers in horticulture.
