Lagerstroemia, commonly known as crape myrtle, is a genus of beautifully colored flowering trees and shrubs that can be deciduous or evergreen. Native to the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, northern Australia, and parts of Oceania, these ornamentals are often planted in urban settings. They perform best in full sun and are valued for their mildew resistance and low water needs.
