Xanthorrhoea, commonly known as grasstree, is a distinctive Australian plant with a stout trunk and a palm-like crown of long, grass-like leaves. It is highly resistant to fire and drought, with flowering often stimulated by fire. This slow-growing, long-lived species is widespread in coastal plains and forests of southwest Western Australia and is valued for urban landscaping.
