Report an issue with this species
Taxodium, commonly known as Bald Cypress, is a flood-tolerant conifer native to the southeastern USA and parts of Central America. It thrives in lowland river floodplains and swamps, developing distinctive "knees" (pneumatophores) when growing near water. Its foliage turns a coppery hue in fall before shedding, and the resilient tree provides wildlife habitat while its decay-resistant wood is valued in construction.
