This slender-branched, evergreen shrub is adorned with dark green, softly hairy foliage and features large, showy deep purple flowers throughout the year. Native to the rainforests of southern Brazil, it attracts butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds. It is drought and salt-tolerant but susceptible to heavy winds and root rot, making site selection important in urban landscapes.
