Malus x robusta, a hybrid crabapple, typically grows to a medium size with dense branching. It produces white or pink flowers in spring, followed by distinctive red or burgundy fruit that ripens from late summer into winter and attracts pollinators and birds. Some varieties, like 'Red Silver', can be susceptible to diseases such as apple scab.
