Acer rubrum, also known as red maple, is a common deciduous tree native to eastern and central North America, recognized for its brilliant scarlet fall foliage. It is highly adaptable to a wide range of site conditions, including wet and dry soils, and tolerates smog, making it suitable for urban landscapes. While valuable as a shade tree and for small-scale syrup production, it can be considered weedy in disturbed forests.
