Magnolia figo is an evergreen tree growing 3-4 meters tall with a dense canopy of glossy, dark green leaves. It produces fragrant, cream-white flowers that can also be yellow, purple, or light-purple. Native to subtropical regions of Southeast China and Korea, this slow-growing, compact tree is valued as an ornamental for its scented flowers and is used as an evergreen hedge. It tolerates both acidic and alkaline soils but can be stressed by drought and strong winds.
